Classics never die - Avantone is proud to bring Gauss back into the world with the reference Gauss™ 7 monitor.
Decades after the demise of the Gauss Speaker Company, the line is back with a whole new focus on bass. The Gauss 7 blends the old-school spirit of vintage nearfield monitors with the bandwidth and frequency response of new-school monitors.
Its GAU-AMT tweeter offers an ultra-smooth response, with an impressive stereo field - hours of listening are now just minutes. The folded AMT driver can only be described as transparent and precise, with detailed transients. The Gauss 7 system offers a very wide sweet spot, precise imaging and an impressive, natural and accurate midrange response.
The Gauss 7 also has simple but powerful acoustic adjustment controls. This, combined with the vertical dispersion of the GAU-AMT, means a clean acoustic response in any environment.

The GAU-AMT: a high-fidelity AMT speaker.
At the heart of the Gauss 7 is the GAU-AMT tweeter, a custom and patented design. The GAU-AMT provides the finest detail for even the most subtle waveforms. The GAU-AMT provides an incredible stereo image, while maintaining a low vertical throw - reducing unwanted acoustic reflections in a room, which helps minimize phase problems in an acoustic environment.
The GAU-AMT's impressive transient response comes from its folded 65mm polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film diaphragm - the result is far beyond what can be achieved with typical dome tweeter designs. PET film was chosen because it has the lowest resonant frequency and lowest crossover point, while offering exceptional high frequency extension. The GAU-AMT coil is made of etched aluminium PET film and folded. The assembly is mounted in its own suspension to avoid pressure from the woofer's return wave.
The high-end frequency response (up to 22 kHz) makes it an outstanding reference monitor for a wide range of music and sound materials. The "air frequencies" are not only audible, but very smooth. It is not only an incredible reference monitor, but also a monitor designed to be listened to for hours.

A unique woofer design with old-school snap and new-school bandwidth.
The Gauss 7 woofer is strongly inspired by our AV10-MLF 'white cone' woofer, but it was designed from scratch. The woofer cone is a pressed design, made from the same proprietary blend of wood pulp and fibreglass as the CLA-10 series woofer (AV10-MLF) - but with a major material upgrade. This provides the dry noise and fast transient response of the CLA-10, but with much more bass. Tighter voicing won't be heard here - Gauss 7 provides a wide bandwidth for fantastic midrange, and a great bass reference.
The woofer motor structure is made of low carbon 1008 steel, which allows for the highest magnetic flux density between the pole piece and the top plate. To top it all off, the woofer surround is made of unidirectional Japanese styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), which optimises the woofer's power and excursion.
A bass port at the rear gives the Gauss 7 a controlled, yet punchy low-frequency response, without being the typical exaggerated bass found in other speakers in its price range.

Easy-to-use acoustic tuning controls.
Balanced XLR and ¼" TRS inputs make connections easy, but it takes a little more than that to give a monitor the strength of a studio. The Gauss 7's rear panel features powerful yet easy-to-use acoustic adjustment controls - perfect for tailoring the system to your room. A three-position Acoustic Placement switch allows you to optimize Gauss 7 for the confines of your room. A three-position High Trim switch allows you to fine-tune for additional room problems. Each Gauss 7 has its own gain control for correct system calibration.
