Fulltone Custom Shop PlimSoul mkII Overdrive/Distortion

The PlimSoul mkII is a pedal offered by the Fulltone brand.

Saturation pedals generally offer two choices of clipping: Soft or Hard. Soft-clipping pedals, like the Tube Screamer or the Full-Drive 2, use diodes placed in the feedback loop of their op-amps and give a low to moderate gain overdrive, cleaner and more compressed. Hard-clipping pedals, like the RAT or the OCD, use diodes connected to ground or, and this is specific to the OCD v2, Mosfets transistors connected between 9v and ground, for a more natural overdrive. The PlimSoul is the only pedal to offer these 2 types of Soft and Hard clipping with a dedicated setting for each. Its unique circuit of dual independent clipping stages has been designed to replicate not only the sound but also the feel of a tube amp with its subtleties and complexities.

- Input impedance increased from 500 kOhms to +700 kOhms for more interaction with the volume of the guitar.
- Jacks and power input mounted on the top.
- Soft-Clipping (stage 1) and Hard-Clipping (stage 2) totally independent and which give an aggressive and punchy gain when the Hard-Clipping is high, even with the Soft-Clipping low.
- The Hard-Clipping stage now uses 2 Germanium diodes instead of LEDs, a real sonic improvement!
- Lossless Bass selector, located just before the Hard-Clipping circuit, for a precise and percussive saturation.
- Brighter Treble control for a multitude of combinations between the very asymmetrical Soft-Clipping stage and the symmetrical Hard-Clipping.
