Voorversterker
The V402 is a two-channel preamp from the renowned Neumann brand.
This model marks Neumann's first return to the field of microphone preamps since the launch in the 1980s of the legendary V 476b, still acclaimed in many professional studios.
With technological developments, Neumann has continued its quest for excellence in preamplification, aiming to optimize the performance of Neumann microphones as well as other high-quality studio models. Whether recent or old, Neumann microphones have always aimed to achieve sonic perfection. The V 402 preamplifier is therefore designed to preserve the integrity of the microphone's sound image, without adding or removing, regardless of the gain setting. Indeed, perfection cannot be corrected!
The V 402 is optimized to guarantee a high degree of linearity and sonic purity. It amplifies the microphone signal without introducing unwanted coloration or artifacts, such as noise and distortion. In an age where many inexpensive preamps advertise themselves as “linear” and “neutral,” they often lack finesse and detail; the output signal can sound “dull” and “lifeless,” especially at high gain levels. Meticulous engineering, rigorous measurements, and extensive listening tests were required to create a preamplifier worthy of Neumann’s reputation. The V 402 preserves every detail of the original signal, revealing its true nuances.
The DI inputs also offer exceptional sonic purity, capturing the sound of electric guitars, basses, and other instruments without coloration or loss of detail. Thanks to sophisticated circuitry and a very high input impedance, the V 402 delivers brilliant sound free of audible noise.
A switchable 20 dB pad allows the V 402 to be used with high-level sources up to 28 dBu without distortion. In addition, the high-pass function has been carefully designed to eliminate unwanted noise and rumble, while preserving signal integrity.
